Well mom and dad went up to the hospital again today to do some more collecting. They were in and out of there today because he did not receive any units of anything. We are pretty sure he will be getting a unit of platelets tomorrow, but here is the good news. As of today, they have collected 21 million stem cells!!!!! That means he is done collecting and that is enough for 3 transplants. Tomorrow they get to go to the hospital to get his tubes taken out that are in the left side of his neck and then they will meet with the doctor to find out exactly what is going to happen now and the time table. We all hope that in the next week or so they will be fixing at least some of his vertebrae so he will be in less pain. The grand kids were asking mom what kind of machine grandpa was hooked up to to collect the stem cells so mom took some pictures and asked us to post them here. This is the machine that did all the magic.
As you all can see, dad is sporting a new haircut these days. Doesn't he look good with a shaved head! In the picture below you can see the tube in his neck that will be coming out tomorrow after he receives a unit of platelets. We will let everyone know how tomorrow goes and what we find out.

What wonderful news!!!! I am so glad things are progressing and that things are lookin' up! I love your new "do" Doug!!! It looks good on ya! Norm and I really want to come and see you when things settle down a bit. You and Kristie are in our thoughts and prayers. Both of you are amazing! That family of yours is pretty neat too. We love you tons!!! Keep up the fightin'......we are with ya!
