Still in the Hospital

Well, dad is still in the hospital and test results are still pending.  They have been able to rule out a lot of things, he no longer has his pneumonia, he no longer has his viruses and there is no fungus in his lungs (which is one thing they were worried about).  However, they are still not sure what is causing him to feel ill and what is in his lungs, they are guessing that what he has is an engrafting illness (sorry, I can't remember the proper term), they think that his body is having a weird reaction to his engrafting and that this all started the day his cells began to engraft.  His body is just trying to adjust to his new cells and are causing a weird reaction.  They say that this reaction can show up in different places in different people and it just so happens that it is manifesting itself in dad's lungs.  They have started him on a steroid treatment to try and combat whatever is going on.  Until they are sure that he is getting better and is in the clear he will have to remain in the hospital.  He welcomes and enjoys short visits from anyone.  He is up at the University of Utah hospital and if you would like a room number contact one of us!
